Here we have our very own Special Vehicle Operations division at Motorsport Tools.
As well as supplying a massive range of top end parts, tools and equipment for motorsport, we also have several ongoing special vehicle projects, both at our on-site workshops and with leading partners who offer specialist services such as welding and fabrication, bodywork and painting, gearbox and axle bulds, wiring etc.


Special projects include full car builds from bare bodyshells to completed road, race and rally cars, restoration of classic rally cars and maintenance of our active competition cars.

NLC121P was originally built as a show car to promote the Group-4 parts that we offer, but as soon as the car was finished in 2016 it had to be rallied, we have been doing various local tarmac rallies over the last couple of years. Powered by a S1 2.5 Millington Diamond engine and running a Quaife 60g 6 speed sequential gearbox on 8x13 wheels, it can be a right handful in the wet!. We have just recently had the engine remapped with a power reading of 300 bhp. We have also just had a new livery design and fitted full carbonfibre boot, bonnet and bumpers to save some weight…

Originally built as a Group4 tarmac rally car back in 2004, competing on a wide range of event through Wales and the north west, mostly single venue tarmac rallies and later some closed road events in Ireland including the famous Carlow Mk2 challenge and West Cork in 2007. We then moved on to various forest events in Wales such as the Cambrian rally, mid wales stages, Sweet Lamb etc. VEC100V is currently having a refresh and service after being in storage for the last 6 years, should see some action soon…

The plan is to build this as a brand new Escort Mk2 and take it through the IVA test, and hopefully have it registered as a new car with a ’19 plate, same as a kit car. We plan on fitting a 2.0 Duratec engine on throttle bodies with a type-9 gearbox and probably an English axle with tramp bars and panhard rod. It will have a basic bolt in 6 point cage and the usual bodyshell mods including large gearbox tunnel, bulk head and strut top plates, gussets, tank stand etc. It will have the Group-4 alloy arches and 13” Minilites for the rally car look. Here we have another new Mk2 bodyshell fresh out of the bodyshop, fully painted, a stunning red colour with satin black detail. Full group-4 spec with bolt in, turret mounted Safety Devices roll cage. some basic trim fitted including windows, seals, bumpers, grill etc. Currently available for sale as a bodyshell or If not sold soon, will be available as a rolling shell with atlas axle, Bilstein suspension, Minilite wheels etc. This one is work in progress…

A genuine Ford Escort Mk1 RS2000 bodyshell fabricated to Group-4 historic spec, was bought last year after being in storage for many years. Specification includes weld in rollcage, steel bubble arches, short link boxes , ZF tunnel and the usual Group-4 mods. The mk1 will require some restoration and fabrication upgrades and is currently in the workshop being worked on. Updates will be shown on our blog, see links above.
